Duties:
• Install new or refurbished mechanical and electrical equipment as needed
• Apply electronics, physical science and mathematical knowledge to fabricate, repair, test or modify analog or digital instrumentation for measurement, calibration, or calculating devices.
• Apply instrumentation principles including: transducing, calibration, signal measurement, measurement of physical quantities, operation of test equipment, detecting and receiving devices. Build and troubleshoot common logic circuits.
• Construct and troubleshoot the interface with software and hardware, programmed control systems and simulation. Monitor, control, troubleshoot, and correct digital and analog systems.
• Participate in the qualification training program for ORNL Instrumentation Maintenance technicians.
• Perform work as required in job specific work packages and procedures.
• Know and understand core functions of the Integrated Safety Management System. Could be involved in: defining the Scope of work; Analyzing hazards, Developing/Implementing Hazard Controls; Performance of Work within controls (to include the authority to stop work); and Feedback/Improvement.
Job-Related Qualifications Required:
• Minimum 8-10 years verifiable experience working with instrumentation, electronics and control systems.
• Qualified Electrical Worker candidates will be preferred
• Candidates with work experience in nuclear facilities will be preferred.
• Ability to work indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical and respirator fit test
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to work safety around hazardous chemicals and radiological hazards, following procedural requirements.
• Just be able to climb ladders and stairs as part of daily function.
• Must be able to meet medical requirements for wearing personal protective equipment including respirators, anti-contamination clothing and hearing protection with restrictions.
• Must possess or ability to obtain a ‘L’ clearance if required.
