Job Title: Testing Technician

Reports to: Production Manager

Department: Operations

Location: 808 Timberlake Road, Fairmont, MN 56031


Position Summary: In this role, you will perform final inspection and testing of electrical control panels, plumbing assemblies, and mechanical components to ensure they meet engineering standards and UL specifications. This role involves troubleshooting, documenting non-conformances, assisting with procedural improvements, and collaborating closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure product quality and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform final inspection and testing on electrical control panels and mechanical assemblies using inspection procedures or wiring schematics and drawings. Closely follow procedures and engineering instructions to meet UL specifications and wiring methods. 
  • Assist in establishing and implementing best work practices. Identify opportunities for improvement based on inspection and test results. 
  • Complete quality control documentation of the item being tested. Record errors and maintain product non-conformance log. Record time spent testing the item in an ERP system 
  • Work closely with the Production Manager, Quality/Manufacturing Technician and Engineering Department to develop or improve inspection procedures. 
  • Load programs onto computers, PLCs, and HMIs and test functionality. Configure motor drives, scale indicators, and other electronic components. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair or replace defective components within a control panel or assembly. 
  • Transfer finished assemblies to proper finished goods inventory locations. 
  • Perform mechanical assembly and panel wiring as needed. 
  • Inspects instruments and test equipment periodically to ensure functioning within specified standards. 
  • Perform work order close process. Inspect work orders to ensure all components are properly issued and labor records are accurate before closing.  
  • Assists and communicates with the PLC/HMI team on project special configuration workflow.

Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge in electrical circuitry and troubleshooting. Experience with reading/interpreting wiring schematics. Experience with PLC/HMI programs (preferred).
 

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, word processing software, and Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software. This position will use the ERP system daily to perform work.
  

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 

Math Ability: Ability to do basic math calculations and read a tape measure.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • 8” adjustable wrench 
  • Set of nut drivers up to 1/2”
  • Set of hex keys up to 6 mm
  • R2 Square head screwdriver. 
  • Set of hex keys up to 3/8 inch Phillips tip screw driver #0 #1 and #2             

Other specialized tools will be supplied by Kahler.
