The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a pivotal leadership role providing strategic leadership and oversight for nursing and clinical operations. As a key member of Konza’s leadership team, the DON is responsible for upholding and advancing the organization's mission, vision, and values. The role requires a deep commitment to serving underserved and vulnerable populations, guiding clinical staff in delivering care with reverence, integrity, wisdom, creativity, and dedication.


The DON ensures compliance with all organizational policies, state and federal regulations, and industry best practices. This leader fosters a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while actively representing Konza with professionalism and integrity in all internal and external interactions.


Requirements

  1. ADN/ASN or BSN from an accredited college or university required
  2. Currently licensed/registered in the state of Kansas required 
  3. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in family medicine is preferred 
  4. One year of supervisory experience is required
  5. BLS certification is required and may be obtained within 90 days of employment 
  6. Electronic Medical Record superuser a plus
  7. Project management certification a plus


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


Leadership and Staff Management

  1. Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of nursing operations across all clinical departments.
  2. Manage staffing functions, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and professional development.
  3. Supervise nursing staff, students, and trainees assigned and approved by the Medical Director.
  4. Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures in alignment with current standards of practice, facility philosophy, and applicable regulations.
  5. Maintain thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
  6. Coordinate, develop, and deliver ongoing education, training, and competency validation for clinical staff.
  7. Assist in reviewing and updating clinical protocols and practice guidelines in collaboration with the Medical Director.
  8. Uphold HIPAA standards to protect patient privacy and ensure proper handling of protected health information (PHI).

Quality Improvement and Risk Management

  1. Track, analyze, and report clinical quality data to identify risks and trends.
  2. Lead quality improvement and process optimization initiatives to improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.
  3. Provide oversight of specialty programs such as Family Planning, Medication Assistance Programs, Medication-Assisted Treatment, and Immunization initiatives.
  4. Participate actively in peer review, quality assurance activities, provider meetings, and clinical leadership forums.
  5. Adhere to quality, compliance, and productivity standards, ensuring the delivery of patient-centered, outcome-driven care.
