Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term seasonal position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
• Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
• Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset
• Coordinate with local ministry units (Corps) in the delivery of the Kettle campaign
• Contact local businesses regarding Kettle placement
• Ensure all kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion
• Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required
• Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign
• Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers
• Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
• Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis)
• Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
• Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
• Collect donations and ensure donations are always kept secure.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work environment is typically in malls/stores
• Standing for long periods will be required and possible exposure to cold weather
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule with some evening and weekend hours

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
• Willingness to develop an understanding and support of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
• Completion of high school
Experience:
• One year of related experience or working in customer service
• Money handling experience is an asset
• Related experience is an asset
Skills and Capabilities:
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required; use of own vehicle is a condition of employment
• Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs)
• Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities
• Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $16.00 to $19.62 with a maximum of $23.54.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
