Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Concept Development: Assist the creation of initial vehicle concepts, packaging studies, and architecture layouts in line with brand DNA, performance targets, and design vision. This may be occupant position layout, systems/subsystems layout or structure design.
- Seating/Ergo Buck: Either manage in house design and development of seating bucks or manage outsourced design and manufacture. You will need to ensure the design of seating bucks match the layout of vehicles being developed with sufficient adjustability to modify these quickly and efficiently throughout the project.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Assist in coordinating Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams during concept phases to ensure aligned decisions and feasibility. This could be the running of Design Reviews or smaller working groups and/or release of hardpoints or schemes across the business.
- Technical Specifications & Targets: Develop and manage high-level vehicle targets (dimensional, performance, regulatory) and cascade to subsystem requirements.
- Feasibility & Risk Management: Identify technical risks early, propose mitigation strategies, and validate feasibility through digital and physical studies.
- Innovation & IP: Help to identify and look at innovative approaches to packaging, lightweighting, and systems integration in line with the company’s technical vision and limited-series manufacturing approach.
- Gateway Delivery: Assist in achieving key deliverables at project gateways (concept freeze, feasibility sign-off, handover to engineering) ensuring technical maturity and stakeholder buy-in.
- Supplier and Partner Liaison: Collaborate with external engineering partners and suppliers on technical inputs, co-development, and feasibility studies.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of vehicle engineering experience, ideally in high-performance or low-volume vehicle environment.
- Proven track record in robust and through engineering design from concept stages.
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems, integration challenges, and performance trade-offs.
- Experience with CAD tools (You must be a strong CATIA user) and vehicle simulation tools for packaging and attribute analysis would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication, and problem-solving skills, need to be able to speak to a wide variety of people from across the business from all levels
- Experience in supercar or motorsport automotive sectors.
- Familiarity with low-volume homologation and niche manufacturing.
- Knowledge of composite structures and lightweight architectures.
