It is expected that those on staff model the following for our congregation: 

Abide in Christ  

    1. Personally:  There is an expectation that you will have a regular and growing/deepening relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, His Word, etc.
    2. Ministry:  It is expected that you will lead your team (volunteer and/or staff) not only in the work, but also encouraging them in their walk with Christ.   
      1. This could be prayer huddles each week, a verse sent out each week to your team, etc.  
      2. Attend Monday 9am prayer meetings weekly with the rest of the staff.   

 

Create a relational culture   

    1. Personally:  That you would honor and deal with things relationally the way that Jesus modeled and dealt with thingsThe world will know we are Christians by our love for one another.     
      1. Serve more than you receive.
    1. Ministry:  We expect you as part of your job to engage relationally with others on staff and in our congregation.   The world will know we are disciples by our love for one another. 
      1. If you have a problem with other staff or anyone in our church, talk directly to that person first.
      2. Attend monthly staff meetings. 

  

Connect the unconnected   

    1. Personally:  We expect that you will be in a small group during the week as we would expect that of any member of our church.  
    2. Ministry:  Participate in helping people to move from large environments to smaller discipleship environments.  

 

Equip volunteers to serve   

    1. Personally:  Spend time in prayer for God to provide workers for you and VRLIn addition, you will personally find people to serve in our church, even if it’s not your own area.  
    2. Ministry.  We expect that you are not hired to just do the job, but that your primary responsibility is to get the job done with the involvement, recruitment and equipping of volunteers.   

 

Share Christ with others   

    1. Personally:  There is an expectation that in word and deed outside of these walls you will introduce people to Jesus Christ by your words and actionsSpecifically praying and looking for opportunities in your sphere of relational influence.  
    2. Ministry:  It is expected that you see how your ministry is reaching out directly or indirectly to those who don’t yet know Jesus Christ or are disconnected from VRL.  (E.g. You’re not just cutting flyers as an admin, but those flyers will be used in people’s hands as a tool to invite others to experience Jesus.)  

 

Strive to make it better   

    1. Personally:  In your home life and outside these walls, we do everything to glorify God, so do your best as unto the LordHave a great work ethic and model grit because of your dependence on Him. 
    2. Ministry:  We expect that you will look at ways on a regular basis for how you, with God’s leading and volunteers, can make the environment that you serve in better.  Also, that you would look at other areas and make loving comments on how they could strive to make it better in their area and that you are open to them doing the same for you.   

 

MY “ONE THING”  

Keep our buildings and property clean, safe, and ready for ministry. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS   

 

  • Equip and schedule volunteers to perform basic custodial and groundskeeping tasks. 
  • Perform regular cleaning of indoor facilities, paying extra attention to high-use areas of the facility. This includes but is not limited to removal of trash, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning, and sanitizing bathrooms, kitchen, and breakroom, washing windows, carpet stain removal, etc. 
  • Perform periodic deep cleaning.

    This includes but is not limited to shampooing, extracting and bonneting carpets, waxing floors, and cleaning cushioned chairs.
     
  • Coordinate maintenance outside surfaces for safe access in inclement weather.
    Includes shoveling, snow blowing, plowing, and de-icing. 
  • Wears appropriate PPE and uses safe practices when handling and using chemicals including (but not limited to): pesticides, solvents, degreasers, deicers, etc. 
  • Maintain a critical eye to proactively identify maintenance or safety issues and “make it better” opportunities. 
  • Maintain attractive grounds by regularly performing groundskeeping tasks including (but not limited to): lawn mowing and fertilization, mowing of naturalized areas, care of planting beds, maintain healthy trees and shrubs, litter removal from grounds, and other exterior maintenance duties as needed. 
  • Ensure Sunday is “service ready” and be the facilities lead during services or ensure a volunteer is trained to be the service lead 
  • Provide leadership and training for facilities volunteers 

 

EXPECTATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

 

  • Attend VRL church services on a regular basis. 
  • Have attended a DNA class, signed a membership form and be in missional alignment with VRL. 
  • Be in a weekly life group on a regular basis. 
  • Currently serving in a ministry at VRL. 
  • Committed to regular giving of income to God through VRL. 
  • Abiding in Christ and continuing to grow toward Christlikeness and spiritual maturity. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, clear communicator and humble-like character. 
  • Previous experience recruiting and leading volunteers preferred.
