• Minimum Base Salary of $44,500/Full Benefits
• Missouri State Teacher Certification Required 
• Start date: 2025-2026 School Year

POSITION SUMMARY
Hillsboro R-III School District is actively seeking Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to play a pivotal role in the social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children. You will create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, provide a safe and welcoming environment, and engage children in activities that promote learning through play. Your role will also include building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring the well-being of each child, and supporting the overall goals of our program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES  

 

• Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
• Establishes and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students when applicable.
• Employs special education strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory. Maintain attendance records.
• Recognizes and refers students encountering medical, physical, and/or psychological problems to District specialists as required.
• Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships by actively communicating with parents, involving them in their child’s education.
• Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and behavior management techniques.

 

MARGINAL DUTIES  

 

• Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, mentor programs and teacher training programs.
• Confers with parents, administrators, diagnosticians, social workers, and other professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social development.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessional(s) and/or volunteer(s).
• Contributes to decisions made by the district and building regarding budget, facilities, curriculum and personnel well-being.
• Maintains a physically and aesthetically attractive classroom setting and exercises proper care of district equipment.
• Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides basic supervision of paraprofessional(s) as assigned, during daily activities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited four-year college or university
• Missouri State Teaching Certificates in both Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education
• Experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting is preferred.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  The employee is frequently required to feel, grasp, push, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crawl, perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement, and move up or down from/to sitting position.  

 MENTAL DEMANDS

• Ability to maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Exposed to loud noise levels. Regularly exposed to varying inclement outdoor weather conditions while on recess duty.
• May be exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
