THE VACANCY:

There is currently one vacancy within the Transportation Department (8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months per year).

Valid Class A or B California Motor Vehicle Operator's license with passenger transportation, endorsement, "S"
Valid California Special Driver Certificate
Valid California Department of Motor Vehicles medical certificate.
Valid
Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate, Form MCSA-5876
Must have a current California Department of Motor Vehicles K-4 DMV H-6 printout to be submitted with the job application.
Position Duties
Supplemental Questions: Qualifying
Qualifications Appraisal Interview: 100%
The supplemental questions to the application will be reviewed and rated for certification. These questions are required at the time of application and are qualifying.
An eligibility list will be established for successful candidates which will be used to fill open positions during the life of the list.
The virtual qualifications appraisal interview (oral exam) is tentatively scheduled for the week of October 6th. You will be contacted via email, as indicated on your application, regarding your ability to participate in the examination phase of this recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications
Schedule bus drivers and vehicles in order to assure an effective and efficient utilization of drivers and vehicles; set up routes and schedules in accordance with established guidelines; review routes and schedules to accommodate changes; update route sheets for drivers; arrange for substitute drivers as needed.
Plan transportation network utilizing bell times, vehicle capacities, load projections, traffic patterns and geographic considerations; coordinate the development and modification of routes according to variety of meetings and IEP requirements as assigned.
Operate a two-way radio to dispatch drivers and vehicles in accordance with established schedules and to fulfill special transportation requests; communicate with drivers regarding schedule or route changes, vehicle breakdowns, accidents, emergencies, road conditions, road hazards and other concerns; notify drivers or authorities as appropriate; review routes for drivers as needed.
Communicate transportation assignments effectively with parents and administrators.
Communicate with Special Education teachers and staff regarding transportation service levels and options in accordance with District policies and procedures; assign special education routes; input related data into computer.
Serve as liaison between Department and faculty and staff regarding field trip planning as assigned by the position; provide personnel and material estimates; communicate with outside agencies to contract buses as required and in accordance with District policies and procedures; assign field trips to District school bus drivers.
Maintain a variety of logs, records and files related to transportation; maintain driver attendance records; maintain records relating to Individualized Health Plans and distribute to bus monitors in accordance with District policies and procedures; assist bus drivers with the accurate completion of required reports in a timely manner.
Maintain records relating to District vehicle accidents as required; perform accident investigations as assigned.
Operate a variety of office equipment including a copier, fax machine, computer and applicable software applications.
Drive a school bus to cover routes and special events as needed.
