Purpose:
Provides technical and managerial services in the radiology department, including, but not limited to: X-Ray, CT, MRI, Mammography, Bone Densitometry, and General Ultrasound.
Managerial Duties:
RADIOLOGY
- Collaborate with the Director of Ancillary Services for the overall functions of X-Ray, CT, MRI, Mammography, Bone Densitometry, and General Ultrasound
- Organize and direct daily operations of the radiology department
- Maintain responsibility for planning and decision-making for all modalities, including:
- Staff planning
- Quality improvement planning
- Project planning
- Productivity benchmarking
- Cost containment
- Oversee X-Ray, MRI, Mammography, and CT accreditations and ensures compliance of all modalities in accordance with state, federal, and other regulatory standards
- Maintain proficient knowledge and use of PACS, RIS systems, NEXTGEN and PowerShare
- Manage personnel, scheduling, staffing, payroll, and annual evaluations
- Team with modality leads to develop and implement department protocols
- Analyze monthly operating and financial statements for areas of responsibility
- Monitor purchasing and inventory of medical supplies in all modalities to ensure the financial strength of the department
- Participate in the selection and purchase of major and minor capital equipment items
- Maintain professional relations with NHRMC and Imagen Technologies personnel
- Identify, analyze, and resolve work-related problems and issues
- Operate under a Continuous Quality Improvement Model and incorporates LEAN and Process Improvement into everyday workflow
- Ensure the radiology department is actively working to support the Mission, Vision, and Pillars of Wilmington Health
- Maintain effective communication and interact appropriately, effectively, and professionally with all members of the healthcare team
- Manage relationships with outside vendors for any repairs or upgrades needed

Other Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review orders and ensure appropriate images are taken
- Assists co-workers as necessary and appropriate, demonstrating a consistent effort to increase the speed and efficiency of all departmental functions
- Pursues ongoing continuing education; maintains a current standard of knowledge and ability consistent with radiographic examinations; maintains current BLS certification; Assumes assigned responsibilities in a cooperative effort to maintain departmental quality assurance
- Maintains a professional demeanor in stressful situations, prioritizing and performing all tasks necessary
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree in Applied Science
- Registry in at least two modalities: X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, or Mammography
Radiology Requirements:
- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians or equivalent state certification
- Minimum of five years experience in Radiography
- Minimum of two years radiology leadership experience
- Ability to work independently
ADA Physical Demands:
Excellent speaking and hearing abilities are required to communicate with staff and patients in person or by telephone. Requires visual acuity to ensure adequate image quality.
