Job Title: Lead Install Technician
Level: Install Level 4
Pay Range: $25-$28 per hour
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective: The Lead Install Technician is expected to facilitate all aspects of a given installation with no supervision with the exception of complex duct work. Customer communication, set up, install and clean up are the Lead Installer responsibilities. Working with one or more assistants the Lead Install Technician is required to oversee all aspects of the jobsite. If difficulties arise, they are expected to inform their Field Manager while at the same time offering up solutions to keep installations as efficient as possible and within budget while providing the customer with a high quality experience.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time position, and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum of 2 years residential install experience
- Must pass drug and background screens
- Valid driver’s license and insurable through company insurance carrier
- EPA Certified
- Able to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing
- Possess tools necessary to perform work at Install Level 4
- Ability to work with tools used in the job in a safe manner
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Completion of HVAC training program
Duties
- Must be able to perform all duties of a Level 1 – 3 Installer
- Maintain professional appearance and attitude always.
- Maintains required levels of truck stock items
- Learn and properly recite company Mission, Vision and Value statements.
- Utilize all safety precautions and wear appropriate safety equipment at all times
- Clean truck as needed, including exterior washing and interior cleanings. Vehicle should be kept free of trash, debris, unused food and drink. Vehicle interior should be swept free from excess dirt. Vehicle interior compartments should hold all tools and equipment, keeping floor area free from falling and/or rolling items
- Operate company vehicle following all safety standards and applicable laws
- Properly use all tools and ladders in a safe manner
- Follow instructions from supervisor in a timely manner
- Immediately report any problems with company tools or vehicles to the office
- Work well with customers, co-workers and other subcontractors
- Properly prepare the job site using drop cloths, moving furniture or obstructions and prepare surface areas using floor protectors
- Clean job site. Job site should be picked up and left in a condition better or equivalent to that as when we arrived. This includes moving all trash and debris, sweeping or vacuuming site, removing all tools, parts and equipment.

- Pick up parts, supplies and equipment from distributors in company vehicle as needed or required
- Ability to read and understand the installation packet and fill out checklists
- Overall understanding of most replacement installations and basic refrigeration
- Complete installation of standard ductwork fittings: rectangular and round
- Set and reconnect air handlers and furnaces
- Knowledge and ability to wire and program most controls and thermostats
- Complete necessary paperwork to support invoices, estimates, orders, inventory, timecards and other information provided to customers, coworkers and supervisors as needed
- Proficient in installing standard ductwork
- Proficient in laying out and making standard rectangular ductwork in shop
- Basic understanding of more complex metal fittings
- Broadway 90s, Broadway 45s, Shortway 90s, Shortway 45s
- Must be able to communicate ideas to supervisors and homeowners
- Can work on standard replacements unassisted and unsupervised
- Properly connect ductwork to equipment with screws per code
- Properly seal ductwork per code
- Properly run ¾ PVC drain lines per code
- Check out materials on inventory listing from warehouse
- Use and perform workflow process on service software through mobile device

- Good understanding of job layout, design and organized installation of standard replacement work ($0.25 per hr. raise)
- Residential replacement jobs: Single unit or full systems ($0.25 per hr. raise)
- Install braze and evacuate line sets ($0.50 per hr. raise)
- Solid understanding of refrigeration to do AC and HP installs ($0.50 per hr. raise)
- Wire all controllers and thermostats
- Perform all jobs to labor budgets ($1.00 per hr. raise)

Work Environment: Environment consists of extreme variations due to conditions, including but not limited to: heat, cold, wet, wind, sunlight, absence of light, insects, animals, mammals, reptiles and other conditions deemed by worksite.
Physical Demands: Reaching, bending, stooping, walking, sitting, crawling, squatting. Holding, carrying objects and lifting – including heavy objects such as equipment up to 300 pounds. Use of tools and equipment such as hand tools and ladders including extension ladders. Must be able to work in small, confined work spaces such as attics and crawl spaces for extended periods of time.
