We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly accurate Dermatology Pathology Transcriptionist to join our laboratory team. The individual in this role will be responsible for transcribing and editing pathology reports dictated by dermatologists and dermatopathologists. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, particularly in dermatology and pathology, and the ability to produce precise, error-free documentation in a timely manner.
Responsibilities include:
- Transcribe and edit dermatology pathology dictations into accurate and timely reports.
- Ensure all medical and scientific terminology, names of dermatologic conditions, and laboratory findings are correctly captured.
- Review, proofread, and verify documents for grammar, clarity, completeness, and compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with dermatologists, dermatopathologists, and laboratory staff to clarify inconsistencies or unclear information in dictations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and organizational privacy policies.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems and transcription software efficiently.
- Meet established turnaround times for report completion.
- Stay current on dermatology and pathology terminology and transcription standards.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary training in medical transcription or medical office technology preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical transcription, preferably in dermatology or pathology.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, dermatology conditions, and pathology terminology.
- Proficiency with transcription software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and editing skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Fluency in computer systems and a variety of software packages
