The Department of General Services is seeking a Physical Security Specialist for the Security Division. This position is responsible for providing technical administrative support for the City's security by overseeing the Central Monitoring Facility and providing technical expertise by assessing and planning the implementation of security systems and other security requirements.
Position Duties
Provides technical and physical support for city facilities, security equipment and security systems. Assists in developing physical security policies, procedures, and regulations for City facilities; Inspects, analyzes, and evaluates security systems. Recommends facility physical security projects, programs, systems, etc. Identifies vulnerabilities and threats to facilities based on a physical inspection of the site, discussion with key staff, and review of past incidents. Assists in the planning, design, implementation, assessment, and improvement of security programs, including access control systems, digital video surveillance systems, CCTV (Closed-circuit television), building automation, and physical intrusion detection systems, in addition to information and decision-making systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Four (4) years of experience supporting a physical security program.
- Extensive knowledge of state-of-the-art security equipment and the latest technology.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Three or more years of supervisory experience.
Other Qualifications
Required:
- Valid driver’s license (A DMV transcript dated within 30 days will be required if selected for hire).
- Must successfully complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 Certifications within one year of employment.
- Complete Physical Security Specialist Certification within one year of employment.
- Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Armed Security Officer Certification within 6 months of employment.
- Complete CPR Certification within three months of employment.
- Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
