The Administrative Resident is a position developed to provide a master's student/graduate with comprehensive knowledge, training and independent project experience in the internal operations of healthcare administration. The Administrative Resident translates theory into practice, participates in the decision-making process and develops professional values and skills. Rotation will be provided through key clinical departments, operating units and support areas with responsibility for substantive projects, supervision, administrative call, budgets and limited operations. The Administrative Resident will have responsibility for a variety of projects which may include process improvement initiatives, budget preparations, revenue cycle improvements, operational analysis, service line initiatives, process flow impact and strategic planning. 

 

The Administrative Resident is a position preparing the individual for health care administration leadership opportunities within the Baptist Health Care System through direct participation in activities designed to build and strengthen essential administrative skills. The position acquires and refines managerial competencies, including analytical, persuasive and human relations skills; develops an awareness and understanding of Baptist Health Care system organizational structure and the interrelation between departments and personnel; receives individualized mentoring from a wide array of administrators and physicians; and establishes a performance record through project work and departmental staff responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates consistently the Baptist Health Care values in all interactions with staff, customers, physicians, patients, and visitors.
  • Communicates information in a timely manner utilizing appropriate channels to ensure that his/her subordinate staff and superiors are informed of issues/items that may impact them or may be of importance to them and/or the organization.
  • Rotates through key clinical departments, operating units and support areas with responsibility for substantive projects, supervision, administrative call, budgets and limited operations.
  • Executes assigned projects and coordinates various programs as assigned.
  • Enhances and contributes to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors and patients.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required upon hire
  • Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a master's program in healthcare Required upon hire

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical & computer skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and plans to pursue a career in hospital or health care administration.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the internal organization of Baptist Health Care.
  • Demonstrates sound program solving with solutions/recommendations that are sound, practical, efficient, economical and reasonable.
