Position Summary
The Director, Facilities is responsible for the strategic oversight, management, and optimization of all company facilities, including distribution centers, service hubs, and administrative offices. This role ensures that all sites operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, FDA, CMS, state/local requirements). The Director, Facilities will lead facility operations, maintenance, compliance, and capital project planning, partnering closely with Finance (CFO), Operations, and Compliance leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Management & Operations
- Provide leadership and direction for all facility operations across multiple sites (warehouses, service centers, administrative offices).
- Facilities Operations encompasses the day-to-day and strategic management of all company sites, including maintenance of building systems, vendor and contract oversight, space planning, and safety compliance. It ensures facilities run efficiently, remain cost-effective, and fully support business operations while meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement facility management policies, SOPs, and best practices.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for equipment, HVAC, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and lease agreements.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with healthcare, DME, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee facility audits, inspections, and documentation.
- Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to maintain accreditation and licensing requirements.
- Lead Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives, ensuring employee and patient safety.
Financial & Strategic Planning
- Partner with the CFO to forecast and manage facilities budgets, capital expenditures, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Monitor facility operating expenses and identify opportunities for efficiency and ROI improvement.
- Lead strategic site planning, including new facility selection, relocations, expansions, and renovations.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Oversee and provide direction to subordinate staff, ensuring effective performance management, professional development, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, and Regulatory teams to ensure seamless support for business needs.
- Act as the primary escalation point for facility-related issues and emergencies.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive facilities management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in healthcare, medical device, or DME industry strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site facilities (warehousing, logistics, and/or patient service centers).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (OSHA, CMS, FDA, Joint Commission, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
- Financial acumen with experience managing large budgets and capital projects.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
