About the Role
Responsible for implementing and managing Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) systems to ensure compliance with UK, European, and corporate standards. Acts as the site’s SHEQ leader, guiding management in legal responsibilities and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to protect people, assets, and the environment.
Reporting to the European SHEQ Director and a key strategic partner to the Site Director, the SHEQ Manager provides pragmatic solutions, promotes cross-functional collaboration, and drives SHEQ engagement across all levels. The role emphasizes leadership, team development, and building strong relationships within the site and across the wider Tronox network, ensuring operational and maintenance teams are supported and empowered.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
Safety & Health
- Lead and manage the Stallingborough site safety systems, procedures and instructions to meet UK statutory and corporate requirements.
- Drive compliance and continuous improvement through strategic initiatives and cultural development.
- Oversee incident management, contractor safety, injury reduction programs, and occupational health.
- Ensure robust emergency response capabilities and alignment with global safety initiatives.
Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Maintain effective PSM programs and regulatory reporting (e.g., COMAH).
- Allocate ownership of PSM elements and ensure ongoing review and improvement.
- Lead hazard reviews, training programs, and contribute to global PSM standardization.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on PSM performance.
Environmental
- Ensure environmental compliance through policy development, training, and auditing.
- Be an integral part of the sites sustainability ambitions through projects, monitoring and reporting.
- Manage environmental permits, incident tracking, and regulatory updates.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support capital projects for statutory compliance
- Develop and manage the environmental budget and team succession planning.
Quality
- Oversee QA function, team development, and document management systems.
- Maintain and evolve QMS to meet customer and business needs.
- Set strategic objectives and KPIs for quality performance.
- Ensure effective reporting to support manufacturing operations.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:
- Degree or equivalent qualified
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent)
- IEMA Diploma in Environmental Management (or Equivalent) - Desirable
- Member of IOSH
- Experience in working in a manufacturing environment preferably in a TIER 1 COMAH site
- Experience of managing and controlling a significant budget across all functions within the SHEQ agenda
- Previous experience of developing and managing diverse high performing teams
- 3yr + in higher level leadership roles
- Proven track record in dealing with UK regulatory bodies
- Excellent IT, numeracy, communication and influencing skills
