Job Description

University Registrar

We are seeking a detail-oriented, student-focused Registrar to oversee and manager the daily operations of the Registrar's Office. This leadership will help promote student success for each student by promoting meaningful pathways so students can obtain the right class at the right time while certifying individual achievement. Service areas in the Registrar’s Office include curriculum management, graduation evaluation, registration and degree audit, class scheduling, records management, NCAA eligibility certification, transfer evaluation, access and compliance, and academic petitions.

What you will be doing in this position

Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Develop and implement short and long-range departmental goals and objectives

  • Identify achievement gaps in the student experience and promote strategies to reduce and eliminate these gaps

  • Serve as a contributing member of the Enrollment Services Executive Council which discusses strategy and alignment issues

  • Develop annual budget that supports operational needs and strategic initiatives

  • Provide data-driven insights to university leadership to support strategic planning and resource allocation

  • Create and ensure alignment with university and division mission and strategic objectives

  • Provide strategic input and develop recommendation for the implementation of related technology applications in support of enhanced services for students, faculty, and staff

  • Provide change management leadership for new products, processes, and system deployments

  • Coordinate with other CES schools on shared initiatives and best practices

Operations Management

  • Oversee all aspects of the Registrar’s Office

  • Address personnel issues as necessary

  • Develop a healthy office culture that encourages inter- and intra-office collaboration

  • Support professional development for employees

  • Ensure adequate coaching, development, and resources are available to ensure employee success

Policy and Compliance

  • Communicate and interpret institutional and governmental policies to members of the university community

  • Develop and recommend university policies and procedures related to the Registrar’s Office

  • Ensure academic records, and delivery of records, are in full compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations

  • Provide institutional oversight for academic data and information access

  • Serve as the chairman of the FERPA Compliance Committee

What qualifies you for this role

Minimum education/experience required:   Bachelor’s degree, with at least 10 years of experience in higher education administration

Preferred:

• Master’s degree or higher with at least 15 years of experience in higher education

• Experience with BYU Registrar’s Office

Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certification:

  • Ability to utilize data to identify gaps, make decisions, and understand trends

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech

  • Ability to coach individuals in their stewardship to maximize their strengths

  • Knowledge of agile project management principles

  • Ability to prioritize system issues and understanding impact assessments

  • Ability to manage processes and people

  • Understanding of experience design principles

  • Ability to connect job functions with success outcomes

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with campus partners and divisional colleagues

  • Ability to establish KPI metrics

  • Ability to negotiate

  • Ability to troubleshoot system issues

Pay Grade: 56

Typical Starting Pay: $107,000-$138,500
