Job Description
Summary:
Rockwell Automation is hiring is hiring a Software Technical Writer who will create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. Conduct interviews with SME and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Research and translate technical information into manuals or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users.
You will document engineering processes and specifications. You will recommend documentation formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. You will produce products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
You will work with engineering, quality, product management, release management, and other subject matter experts to develop user-task-based documentation including conceptual overviews, step-by-step instructions, configuration requirements, and UX microcopy for application UI.
You will participate in internal projects aimed at improving the Plex documentation site features and user experience.
You will improve content based on feedback from internal and external users.
You will create a variety of learning assets including text, graphics, charts, diagrams, animations, and videos.
You will follow internal content development style guide and information model.
You will bring approaches to, develop and propose new ideas, and participate in improving the quality of our product documentation.
You will work with PavaillionX / VisionAI product(s).
You will be integrated into Scrum team of allocated product(s).
You will report to Information Development Manager and will be responsible for release of the assigned release work. This is an individual contributor Role.
You will report to the Information Development Manager and have a hybrid schedule working in Bangalore or Pune, India.
Your Responsibilities:
- You will install and test new software and create User Manual/Getting Started Guide/Release Notes content using MadCap Flare.
- You will develop and document technical content that describes the software applications.
- You will implement the software installation guides and report any anomalies using Jira.
- You will participate peer reviews of documentation content for quality and accuracy and provide weekly status and meet with group.
- You will work with Agile methodologies.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Experience: 3 or more years of experience in software technical writing of Installation Guides, Release Notes, Administration Guides, Online Help, User Guides, Web Pages, etc.
- Educational Background: B.E. / B.Tech / MCA or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of MadCap Flare.
- Working knowledge of structured authoring, DITA, CMS, and XML
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Acrobat, Snagit, Paint, video recording tools, virtual images, Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Excellent experience as an technical writer in an agile development environment.
- Experience with common style guides such as Chicago Manual of Style, and
- Microsoft Manual of Style Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence, or similar platforms
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Exposure to Programming.
- Exposure to multimedia development.
- Knowledge on CMS administration.
- Expert in information design and structured authoring.
- Troubleshoot issues with publishing tools without support from other team members.
- Experience working with US teams.
- Have a positive, can-do attitude; be enthusiastic about learning new technologies
- Proficient in using documentation templates and style guidelines to develop documentation that has a visual and structural approach.
