NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a Sanitation Supervisor to oversee all sanitation and janitorial related duties and other various general labor tasks for the facility. Ensures conformance to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). Communicates technical points of course content and demonstrates the capability to answer unexpected questions about sanitation related materials. Supports the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System. This leader will be responsible for serving as the subject matter expert on sanitation and tools used by the sanitation team at our San Benito Foods plant in Hollister, CA

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees the facility’s sanitation and janitorial programs; provides guidance and direction to personnel to ensure all aspects of processes are in compliance. 
  • Maintains recordkeeping system; ensures that Janitorial personnel document daily duties; maintains daily report of all sanitation duties performed; verifies that paperwork is correct and corresponds with audits; maintains all required documentation.
  • Regularly reviews chemicals used in sanitation and coordinate with Safety personnel to ensure that Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS) are kept current to reflect new or discontinued chemicals. 
  • Provides training on proper use and handling of chemicals and job requirements; location and use of MSDS binders; ensures that personnel conform to plant GMP requirements and wear required personal protective gear.
  • Coordinates with production department; adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules; schedules sanitation staff to timely satisfy business requirements; analyzes production schedules to estimate sanitation staff requirements for completion of job assignment

 

Requirements: 

  • Associate degree in general studies, business, or food industry production operations; or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the position.
  • 3 years’ experience in sanitation management programs for food processing operations.
  • 1 years’ experience supervision in manufacturing environment; union environment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and work extended schedule, weekends, and any assigned shift during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

 

Compensation: 

The salary range is $68,000 - $85,000, based on experience and qualifications.
