Your missions :

Chief Financial Officer, Canada

Guelph, ON

 

The role reports directly to the Country Manager-Canada and functionally reports to the Regional CFO North America. The position has strong interactions with:

  • the NOA Zone Business Controller for matters related to Business Performance, Forecasting & Budgeting activities
  • the Group Finance Manager for matters related to Accounting & Finance activities
  • the Group Autogenous Vaccines BU head of Controlling

The team in the Canada is composed of 8 people to manage:

  • 2 Industrial Controllers
  • 1 Accounting Manager in charge of 4 accountants (1 Account Payable Supervisor, 1 Accounts Payable Accountant, 1 Account Receivable Accountant, 1 General Accountant)
  • 1 Commercial Analys

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive & take full ownership of the local finance organization to support operations & business at achieving their goals, including the annual budget & estimate cycles.
  • Support the implementation of operational and financial strategies in Canada
  • Lead and monitor implementation of and adherence to a high standard internal control over financial reporting that is compliant with the Group framework.
  • Act as a guardian of the local and Support Functions rules,
  • Manage the risk and opportunities and ensure that the right tools and procedures are in place.
  • Ensure compliance of the Canadian entities with both group and local laws and regulations
  • Ensure that the Canadian entities are compliant with tax and other local financial regulations, including timely filing of statutory accounts
  • Is accountable for the accuracy of the reported P&L and balance sheet of the 3 legal entities, both in local and French GAAP
  • Is accountable for regulatory watch on Finance, accounting, cash and tax and, if changes, for alerting proactively the relevant Corporate owners
  • Act as the guardian of all financials indicators/aggregate at Legal Entity (LE) and Management Entity (ME) levels
  • Manage relationships with local auditors according to group instruction
  • Is responsible for timely yearly closing of statutory accounts
  • Lead local adaptation of corporate guidelines, standards and procedures to ensure compliance both at corporate and local levels (accounting, tax and cash, risk management & payroll)
  • Animate financial cycles (Group and local), consolidation, cash forecast and tax within Canada
  • Ensure achievement and drive optimization of main KPIs
  • Ensure anticipation of all financial aspects related to modifications in the organization and/or business models
  • Monitor relationships and negotiations with local banks
  • Review & approve all Payroll distributions
  • Provide relevant set of analysis to business in order to optimize the overall performance of the country and support business needs
  • Perform tax specific studies in accordance with corporate tax organization
  • Ensure relevant applications of tax incentives & grants that can be available
  • Manage foreign currency exposure according to group policy
  • Ensure Data Quality Management
  • Ensure maintenance & development of local ERP as well as systems compliance with SOD
  • Ensure implementation and appropriation of corporate tools locally
  • Ensure that global tools are well used and not substituted by local tools
  • Oversee commercial & industrial management reporting and collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment and strategic oversight
  • Participate in key strategic decisions as part of the senior management team, leading financial strategy development and execution
  • Partner with business units to uncover growth opportunities and enhance process efficiencies
  • Contribute to financial strategic planning by providing insights, analysis, and recommendations, and setting functional goals aligned with organizational aims
  • Support organizational & business projects to propose effective solutions and improvements
  • Conduct financial viability analyses for new projects, including detailed profitability assessments, funding needs, and risk evaluations
  • Leverage market insights and customer connections to generate valuable business intelligence

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: University degree required; advanced education or professional qualifications such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent certifications required
  • Extensive experience in finance within an international, manufacturing & sales-driven organizations; regional experience, a focus on strategic initiatives, and a global mindset will be an advantage.
  • Experience in rapidly changing companies with a hands-on approach to finance, focusing on commercial finance, manufacturing controlling, value creation processes, cost effectiveness initiatives, profitability and margins.
  • Ability to support the Country Manager & Site Director in co-leading the company, acting as a sparring partner and challenging the status quo.
  • Proven experience in working with different business stakeholders, possessing strong managerial and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, capable of providing clear and concise insights to senior management and other key stakeholders
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally as required
