Do you love working with children and families? Mendocino Community Health Clinic (MCHC) is seeking a Patient Services Representative (PSR) to join our pediatric team. As the first friendly face our young patients and their families see, you’ll help set the tone for a positive, supportive healthcare experience.

About the Role 


In our pediatric office, the PSR is key to making families feel comfortable and cared for from the moment they arrive. You’ll greet children and their parents, schedule appointments, verify insurance, collect payments, and ensure visits run smoothly. This role is perfect for someone who is organized, patient, and enjoys interacting with kids and their caregivers.


What You’ll Do

  • Create a welcoming, child-friendly environment for patients and families.
  • Greet and check in patients, both in-person and over the phone.
  • Schedule and manage pediatric appointments, follow-ups, and well-child visits.
  • Provide families with necessary forms and assist as needed.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and guide families through financial assistance options.
  • Collect copays and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Keep patient information updated in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Communicate clearly with parents about wait times, processes, and resources.
  • Support families in using the patient portal to access records and information.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in waiting and reception areas.

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a busy pediatric environment.
  • Experience with scheduling, insurance, or medical office work preferred.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years’ experience in healthcare, in a similar position or in another industry, in a customer service role
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish, fluent
