The Customer Service Installation Technician I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of parcel and postal logistics systems at customer sites. The role involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical components, as well as system-level diagnostics and repairs. Technicians in this role are expected to document work accurately, comply with safety protocols and customer requirements, and collaborate with internal engineering, project, and service teams. The position requires flexibility to travel, provide remote support, and work occasional weekends or holidays. The role is based in Irving, TX.
Your role in our team
- You will perform on-site system assessments and support equipment performance during installation and post-installation phases.
- You will participate in equipment installation, testing, repairs, and overhauls of parcel and postal systems in compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
- You will provide training to customers on system operation, care, and preventive maintenance.
- You will perform routine inspections, maintenance, and documentation of equipment and systems.
- You will recommend and implement improvements to increase equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
- You will analyze field data and system trends to identify root causes and support issue resolution.
- You will escalate critical system issues and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
- You will collaborate with engineering, project management, and service teams to ensure seamless integration and support.
- You will obtain and manage site-specific permits, certifications, and customer-required sign-offs as needed, within authorized scope.
- You will complete accurate service documentation including reports, logs, and forms.
- You will ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, customer-specific requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- You will respond to customer service calls, including travel on short notice and extended assignments, including weekends.
- You will perform other duties as assigned.
Your profile
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You have an associate degree or trade certification in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical technology.
- You have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field (preferred, but not required).
- You have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting electromechanical or mechanical systems in an industrial or logistics environment.
- You have experience with automated material handling systems (preferred).
- You have experience working with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
- You have an understanding of VFDs, MCCs, and electrical power distribution systems.
- You are familiar with industrial network protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, ASi Bus, and Modbus TCP.
- You have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in industrial environments.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- You can work independently and adapt in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- You have a valid driver’s license and are able to travel frequently (up to 50%), including weekends and extended overnight stays.
- You are able to obtain USPS-sensitive security clearance.
- You are physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders or stairs, kneel, bend, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- You are comfortable working in environments with noise (>85 dB), dust, heat, cold, and moving machinery.
- You are able to frequently use hand tools and perform repetitive motions, with the necessary visual and auditory acuity for safe equipment operation and communication.
- You are willing and able to use personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, hearing protection), as required and provided.
