Moog Aircraft Group, Torrance Operations is looking for a level 2 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector to perform Magnetic Particle and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection.  Reporting to the Fabrication Quality Manager, this on-site position is based in Torrance, CA (Los Angeles area). 

The level 2 NDT Inspector will perform Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Inspection on all Moog hardware including gears, aluminum housings, actuator bodies, manifolds, assemblies, pistons and bushings in accordance with Moog Engineering Procedures (EP’s), Military Specifications, Customer specifications and operation sheet instructions.  The level 2 NDT Inspector will be responsible for the process, detection of indications, acceptance of parts, and verification of cleanliness before and after inspection.

As a level 2 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector, you will: 

  • Set up and calibrate Magnetic Particle and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection equipment.

  • Create, develop and approve Technique sheets for product inspection.

  • Perform accept/reject per Mil-STD-1907.

  • Understand the difference between relevant and irrelevant indications.

  • Provide technical support relative to methods, standards and techniques for specific inspections. 

  • Interface with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering on a regular basis to advise on methods, standards and techniques for specific inspections relative to specification guidelines.

  • Required to interface special process audits by internal and external auditors and customer representatives.

  • Must be able to create and maintain test data on Moog’s system database.

  • Must be able to conduct weekly MPI/FPI system tests.

To be considered for the level 2 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector role, here's what you'll need to bring with you: 

  • High School Diploma or GED or a two-year college/technical school level training course or over five years of experience in NDT inspection.

  • Must possess a Level 2 Certification on Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Inspection to NAS 410 (NAS Certification and Qualification of Nondestructive Test Personnel).

  • Pass company specific and practical examinations.

  • Must provide documentation of previous on the job training showing hours required for validation of experience.

  • Must possess good communication skills to conduct audits, interface with customer representatives and to communicate effectively with other disciplines within the organization to ensure timely decisions.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $26.44–$38.46 Hourly

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
