OBJECTIVE: Perform duties of Architect of record and plan, design and facilitate the execution and approval of building designs to meet company specifications and code compliance and manage design staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Act as Architect of Record and Supervising Professional for S.C. Swiderski projects requiring DSPS and WI State Plan Approval:
- Sign and seal State Approval Plans & Submittal Documents as licensed Architect.
- Direct and monitor the preparation of any plans, drawings, documents and reports that the Architect personally stamps, in accordance with Wisconsin Administrative Code A-E 8.10
- Enter drawing and document files into State (eSLA) system or train & oversee the entering of files by others
- Address DSPS Plan Reviewer feedback during plan approval process and ensure corrective action when needed
- Participate in on-site inspection process of buildings which may include midpoint inspection of building construction and final inspection of buildings
- Submit required documents into state (eSLA) system, or work with / oversee submittal by others:
- Engineered Plans – Roof & Floor Truss Component Submittal
- Building Compliance Statement
- Create conceptual and schematic building designs based on Owner or Company direction
- Perform Code Reviews of all projects requiring state submittals and review plans for adherence to company standards
- Collaborate on design concepts for new and existing building designs
- Adhere to the established time frame and budget for each project
- Maintain licensure status, attend continuing education and code refresher courses as needed to maintain licensure.
- Assist with education, code compliance information and support for other Design staff
- Work closely and coordinate with other professionals including outside architects and engineers and SCS staff such as development, design and construction staff
- Hire, manage and provide timelines and oversight for design staff
- Contribute as an active member of the Development Team providing input on RFPs and potential projects
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Current Architect license in Wisconsin
- Proven work experience of 5 or more years as an Architect
- In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations
- Excellent understanding of plans and specifications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, time management
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Extensive knowledge of building code
- Ability to direct, train and mentor staff
PREFERRED:
- Experience in multi-family building design
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit and stand for 8-10 hours daily.
- Ability to move safely on construction sites, undeveloped land, and uneven terrain.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions as needed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional travel during the day may be required to properties, presentations, and construction sites.
- Ability to dress professionally for public events and meeting needs.
- Ability to effectively present in public and at meetings with internal and ex-ternal groups.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional setting during nor-mal business hours of Monday to Friday, with occasional hours outside of that range as business necessitates. Travel during the day will be required to properties, pro-ject sites and municipal meetings.
