Job Title – Marketing Assistant

FLSA Classification – non-exempt

Salary Grade – $22.75/hour, 40 hours/week

Report to – Marketing and Outreach Manager 

Work environment – Work is performed at the Friendly House campus (2617 NW Savier Street, Portland, Oregon), where one building is non-ADA compliant. This position is hybrid. 

Supervision – This position does not supervise other employees.

Schedule – Working hours are daily M-F, with weekend and evening hours as necessary, with advanced notice.

Job Description

Reporting to the Marketing and Outreach Manager, the Marketing Assistant position is dedicated to supporting our marketing, communication, and outreach efforts. 

The Marketing Assistant provides coverage for the Marketing and Outreach Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator, and the Program Support Assistant on a short-term basis as needed. 

Essential Functions

  • Production of weekly emails and program-specific email updates.
  • Social media posting, tracking metrics, and coordination of the SM content calendar.
  • Maintain and update the agency blog and website calendar.
  • Tabling at outreach and community events in coordination with other Friendly House Programs.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies for tabling by other programs. 
  • Flyer and collateral distribution in-agency and among community partners. 
  • Organization and upkeep of marketing collateral archive.
  • Organization and upkeep of merchandise inventory. 
  • Production of fliers, ads, social media graphics, event programs, slide shows, and other materials as assigned by the Marketing Manager.
  • Maintain supply and ordering of Friendly House printed materials (e.g.: thank you notes, marketing collateral, business cards, etc.).
  • Collect email addresses/contact info for program participants for our newsletter distribution list.
  • Coordinate sponsor/advertiser deliverables (ads & logos) for fundraising events.
  • Responsible for the info email account and all incoming inquiries from social media.
  • Coverage of Marketing Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Program Support Assistant responsibilities during short-term absences.
  • Provide support for non-fundraising events (such as the Holiday Giving Program) as needed/able.

Other Responsibilities

  • Support Friendly House community building mission.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Some graphic design experience required.
  • 1+ years of experience in marketing or related role.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and WordPress. 
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Open-minded, inclusive, and willing to work with a diverse population. 
  • Additional Eligibility Requirements  
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Employer Sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at time of hire.
  • Must successfully complete a State of Oregon criminal history – (ORCHARDS) background check.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a private vehicle.
  • Must have an acceptable MVR, meeting company insurance standards. 

Physical Demands

Employees must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time up to 30-50%, with the ability to move, and traverse in the office and work environment. Use hands/fingers to handle/feel. Operate the computer and other office equipment. Occasionally, they ascend stairs or walk in uneven terrain. May need to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend. Communicate information and ideas so others will understand and exchange accurate information in these situations. The ability to see or observe detail at close range. May lift or move items up to 40lbs. May be exposed to smells, cold/heat, and outdoor environments.
