Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader is a key member of the Site Leadership Team and will have overall responsibility for developing and delivering the site business improvement. This role will provide tactical direction and operational oversight to support key initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Lead and support the business improvement strategy for the site. This includes identifying opportunities, establishing and determining workgroup objectives, determining timelines, ensuring robust measures and controls, resources requirements, and follow up. Work within the site leadership team to identify improvement initiatives and update site initiative hopper. Lead cadence of accountability meetings and is key communicator of site’s overall performance versus plan.
- Ensure that the initiatives are aligned to support delivery of the site’s vision, purpose and strategy, develop and implement an efficient and effective Initiative Management System (IMS) across functional groups to ensure sustainable business improvement, and provide critical information in support of strategic and operating decisions. Liaison with corporate CI and OpEx groups in formulating site specific CI deployment strategies.
- Lead and execute improvement initiatives utilizing methodologies and tools such as DMAIC, PDCA, RCA, VSM, SPC and Kaizen. Maintain existing visual management system and idea generation process while continuing to implement across all areas of the site. Seek and apply new methodologies to drive improvement.
- Continually develop site skills to increase the rate of improvement over time (Site facilitator for Lean Six Sigma training such as White and Yellow Belt Training)
- Mentor employees seeking Green Belt certifications
- Coach and train others in the application of Lean Six Sigma processes
- Plan and facilitate kaizen events, workshops, and focus groups
- Follow up with individuals to drive completion of identified improvement initiatives and ensure process controls in place to sustain improvement
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in related field
- 8 years relative experience in a similar environment
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is required
- Demonstrated leadership and people management experience
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, including involvement in business improvement projects/techniques
- Project management skills coupled with the ability to deliver tangible business-level results
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; thorough understanding of the various CI tools/techniques available for deployment
