Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Orthopedic Tech to join our orthopedic care team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in all aspects of casting for both adult and pediatric patients—including treatment of conditions such as clubfoot—as well as brace fitting and inventory management. This role is vital to ensuring high-quality care and support for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply all types of orthopedic casts for both adult and pediatric patients, including specialized casting for conditions like clubfoot.
- Assist with fitting and adjusting both off-the-shelf and custom orthopedic braces.
- Educate patients and caregivers on proper care and use of casts and braces.
- Monitor and organize inventory of casting materials and orthopedic supplies.
- Ensure casting and bracing equipment is clean, well-maintained, and ready for use.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of materials used and procedures performed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in orthopedic technology and bachelors of science preferred.
- Minimum [1–2] years of experience in orthopedic casting and bracing (pediatric and adult).
- Strong knowledge of various casting techniques and orthopedic appliances.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed.
- Manual dexterity for detailed procedures involving casting and bracing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists (NAOT) or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a clinical orthopedic or hospital setting.
