Position Overview
The Accounting Sr. Specialist will perform general accounting and analysis functions of the Bank and the Holding Company. In addition, this position has significant responsibility for daily cash management of the Bank and also plays an active role in support of the annual budget process. The Accounting Sr. Specialist will be an independent contributor handling multiple responsibilities where timeliness and accuracy are keys to success. The position requires an individual who is adaptable and eager to learn. In addition, the individual must demonstrate the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Consistently delivers outstanding client service with a friendly, can-do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
- Acts as a cultural ambassador to internal and external clients, providing a professional, exceptional, and supportive experience with each interaction.
Cash Management
- Monitors and reconciles daily cash positions across all bank accounts and funding sources.
- Analyzes inflows and outflows to identify trends and optimize cash utilization.
- Manages interbank transfers, overnight investments, and funding allocations.
- Assists in the development and implementation of cash management policies and procedures.
- Coordinates with operations and finance teams to ensure timely settlement of transactions.
Reporting
- Supports financial reporting and analysis for liquidity management and Board of Directors.
- Assists with daily and monthly reporting and analysis including but not limited to prepare and post journal entries, variance analysis, and reconciliations.
- Assists in reviewing the general accuracy of all reporting for all Business Lines and Companies. This includes accuracy of both stand-alone and consolidated entities.
- Provides support to functional areas, including report preparation, analytical work, routine functions, special projects, etc.
- Researches outstanding issues as assigned.
- Assists with special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned.
Budget and Forecast Functional Support
- Assists with annual business plan/budget for given business segment.
- Supports forecasting activities, as necessary.
- Execution of ongoing budget system operational activities.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Transactions
- Processes various transactions in a timely and accurate manner, including participation in month-end closing processes.
- Responds to and resolves inquiries.
- Posts data and/or checks and verifies data.
- Maintains an orderly accounting filing system.
- Maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions.
Reconciling
- Posts, balances, researches and reconciles general ledger accounts related to cash, due from banks, and other various accounts timely and accurately.
- Submits audit material upon request.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirement:
- 4- year Undergraduate Degree (e.g., BS or BA) preferably with a focus on a major in Business, Economics, Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role or a combination of education and experience relevant to this role.
- The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes: self-starter, pro-active, openness to change, willingness to learn and suggest new ideas, and ability to process and review information analytically.
- Strong aptitude with technology, including most software used in business (i.e. Microsoft Office and various database functions).
- General accounting knowledge of accruals and reconcilements (cash reconciliations a plus)
- Financial variance analysis.
Knowledge of:
- Basic Accounting concepts and principles.
- Principles of banking and finance industry operations.
- Fixed Asset concept and principles.
Skilled in:
- Numerical aptitude and critical thinking sufficient to solve balance discrepancies.
- Analyzing operation processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Reviewing and interpreting financial information.
Ability to:
- Competently analyze and prioritize information to make appropriate recommendations.
- Review, understand and interpret financial reports.
- Multi-task while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.
- Work closely with other team members, communicate with vendors, fellow employees and officers of the Bank.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in a similar role or a combination of education and experience relevant to this role.
- Experience with Accounting Software such as Prologue
