Job Title: Preschool Teacher Aide
Department: Recreation
Classification: Part-time
Salary: $15.50-$18.50
IMRF Position: No
Directly Reports To: Preschool Director
Hours & Days of the Week: 8:45 am - 11:45 am M-F (Days may vary)
DESCRIPTION
The Seedlings Preschool Teacher Aide assists our team in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for our young learners. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a desire to support our lead teachers in creating engaging and developmentally appropriate activities. The Seedlings Preschool Teacher Aide reports to the Preschool Director.
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working with preschool age children
- Course work in Early Childhood or Education preferred
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
- Ability to understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated park district policy.
- Current CPR and first aid certification preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Help to observe, evaluate, and provide feedback to Preschool Teachers regarding the children performance.
2. Help to coordinate activities and implement monthly calendar.
3. Cleaning and preparing the classroom daily.
4. Assist and support classroom teacher in creating and implementing lesson plans and activities that promote children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
5. Interact with children, parent, staff and park district personnel.
6. Assist with supervising the children at all times.
7. Report any suspected child abuse to the Preschool Director immediately.
8. Ensure safety of children at all times, report any unsafe conditions.
9. Wipe tables and sweep after snack and at the end of the day.
10. Help put up and take down equipment/supplies at the site location at the beginning and end of the program day.
11. Keep cabinets and closets neat and clean.
12. Interact with children, parents, co workers and park district staff in a positive manner.
13. Report to the preschool director any staff problems, parent concerns and behavioral problems.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. While performing this job, the employee is required to speak and listen, stand, walk and use hands, sit, and stoop or kneel, bend and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
2. Specific vision requirements include distance, color vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
3. Employee must be able to follow supervisor direction with safe follow through and exercise good judgment and safety awareness.

SAFETY AND FACILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Assure a safe and hazard free environment by inspecting and taking the necessary action to correct and safeguard against potential problems and/or accidents.

3. Employee must be able to follow directions with safe follow through and exercises good judgment and safety awareness.
4. Employee will use all required PPE.
5. All unsafe conditions are to be reported to your supervisor immediately.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Attend staff meetings as assigned.
2. Attend special events planned by the preschool.
3. Maintain current CPR/First Aid Certification, if certified
