Job Announcement – Rental Assistance Program Specialist

Job Summary:

This program provides rental help to help hundreds of eligible households and works with landlords and tenants to resolve outstanding rental debt. Major areas of focus include supporting the team with administrative and program building tasks. This is a time limited position based on grant funding. The position is expected to end June 30th, 2026, with the possibility of extension.


This position will remain open until filled; however, priority consideration will be given to applications submitted within the first two weeks. We encourage interested candidates to apply early.
 

Compensation:

  • The compensation for this position is $30.08 per hour.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides support for the development and implementation of the ongoing King County and Seattle Rental Assistance Program.
  • Works closely with Rental Assistance Program Managers and YDIP Program Coordinator to make sure program communication is up to date and clear.
  • Collaborates with CBO partners and fellow team members on process improvements and to strengthen racial equity outcomes.
  • Supports finance process in collaboration with internal Accounting Team to ensure timely process of rent payments on a weekly basis. 
  • Provides timely and accurate updates on client data and landlord data in program database for program staff.
  • Reviews recent updates made to the Keep King Count Housed portal and confirms that all new content, workflows, and user permissions are correctly configured.
  • Ensures the CIF portal is updated with the latest changes, including form revisions, resource links, and any adjusted data fields.
  • Verifies that the Spanish Intake Form updates are fully translated, accessible, and consistent with the English version.
  • Reviews and evaluates incoming applications for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
  • Audits the current Zendesk ticket system to identify gaps, duplicates, or inefficiencies.
  • Assists with HMIS entry.
  • Supports program administration work for grant reporting and other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to learn new technology and navigate confidential information systems.
  • Strong commitment to UWKC’s racial equity work and demonstrated interest in social justice.

  • Demonstrated understanding of social and racial justice and equity, with a proven commitment to apply racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and workplace contexts.
  • Lived experience and/or demonstrated professional skills working within a diverse work environment.
  • Proven passion for preventing homelessness.
  • Demonstrated strong community outreach skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate with diverse populations in an empathetic and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Racial Equity and dismantling racism.
  • Proven strong commitment to client confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated excellent detail orientation and the ability to quickly and concisely synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Proven strong ability to multi-task and utilize effective time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging new technology, social media, and other tools on a daily basis.
  • Proven excellent organizational and follow-through skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to learn new technology and navigate confidential information systems.

 

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in office administration, community outreach, case management, program/project support are highly desirable. Previous case management and customer experience desired. Ability to speak other languages is desired.
