Essential Purpose: To schedule and facilitate the planting, transplanting, and care of the vegetable garden on hotel property.


Essential Duties

  • To follow proper procedures for the routine care of all property vegetable gardens.
  • To satisfactorily perform routine Gardening functions, including pruning, trimming, thinning, watering, fertilizing, spraying, tying and staking, seeding, planting, and transplanting.
  • To maintain the professional appearance of sidewalks, pathways adjacent to property vegetable gardens.
  • To implement multi-year/season garden plan.
  • To implement food/crop production goals for on-site culinary use.
  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • To promote & comply with all policies and procedures of Temecula Creek Inn
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions. 
  • To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times. 
  • To practice safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others, including the safe operation of all power-driven machinery.
  • To ensure safe work practices of all Golf Course Maintenece staff, including compliance with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment and machinery.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings, as directed. 
  • To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.


Requirements

Knowledge + Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Spanish fluency helpful. Requires "hands on" working knowledge of all necessary equipment, and the proper application of fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. Must have minimum one year experience in all aspects of gardening, including a broad knowledge of plant varieties and their care. Hotel experience preferred.

Physical Demands: Stands/walks approximately 80% of shift. Sits/drives approximately 20% of shift. May be required to work at extreme heights. Frequently required to handle and move objects weighing between 50 lbs. to 80 lbs. over short distances. Bends, stoops, reaches, and lifts to perform routine job tasks. Flexibility and good reflexes required to operate power-driven machinery. Must be able to withstand prolonged exposure to sun.
