Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the nursing department, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to improve patient care and safety.
- Lead and manage nursing staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and mentorship.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment plans.
- Monitor and manage department budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective practices.
- Ensure continuous improvement in nursing services through quality assurance programs and feedback mechanisms.
- Facilitate communication between nursing staff, administration, and other departments.
- Stay informed on the latest nursing practices, technologies, and regulations to incorporate them into the department.
- Develop and oversee educational programs and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.
- Ensure the facility meets all accreditation and licensing requirements related to nursing services.
- Lead initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and address any concerns or complaints promptly.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes for the healthcare facility.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all nursing staff.
- Represent the nursing department in meetings, committees, and professional organizations.
- Prepare and present reports on nursing department performance and patient care outcomes to senior management.
Requirements
Job Requirements
Current RN license in good standing
CPR certified required; 30 days will be given to complete a course and get certified
Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
Ability to work flexibly and positively with intermittent interruptions
Prefer 2 years nurse management experience in long term care/skilled nursing
The ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations- Strong knowledge of nursing regulations and healthcare compliance standard
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage budgets and resource allocation effectively.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Experience in staff development, performance evaluations, and team building.
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, administrators, and other healthcare professionals.
Proficiency with healthcare management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and quality improvement initiatives.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to handle high-stress situations and work in a fast-paced environment.The primary purpose of this job position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern a long term care facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities.
