SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Bilingual Social Worker for the Family Recovery Center (FRC) in Bay Shore, NY. The Bilingual Social Worker will provide counseling to individuals, groups and families directly impacted by alcohol and drugs. The Bilingual Social Worker will consult and advocate with outside agencies and other supports, as needed, and facilitate referrals and follow-up on those services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Bilingual Social Worker will provide the most appropriate and highest level of service to clients.
  • Manage a caseload of clients and provide case management services; possibly primarily mandated by probation.
  • Complete intake assessments.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Make accurate diagnosis and confer with supervisor when needed.
  • Provide each client with realistic crisis plan.
  • The Bilingual Social Worker will work with clients to develop and reach treatment goals and change goals as needed.
  • Efficiently access other necessary services for client.
  • Complete progress notes, treatment plans and other OASAS required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Conduct and record all results of laboratory screenings.
  • Maintain contact with client legal mandates and notify of significant issues.
  • Facilitate groups for clients depending upon client need. 
  • Register appropriate clients in impaired driver system.
  • Correspond with collateral family members and agencies in a timely and professional manner.
  • The Bilingual Social Worker will acquire knowledge of modalities relevant to client population.
  • Maintain reasonable kept appointment rate.
  • Contact clients by phone and letter regarding missed appointments.
  • Obtain all necessary signatures and documentation related to client care.
  • Maintain up-to-date progress notes, treatment plans, and Outpatient Treatment Reviews (OTRs).
  • Terminate cases when appropriate and using the appropriate procedures.
  • Inform office staff and ensure that clients are informed of schedule changes.
  • Adhere to OASAS regulations.
  • Meet regularly with supervisors to review cases.
  • All other duties as assigned.


 
QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in social work required. 

LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or limited permit required.

Two years of experience with substance use disorders required; experience with co-occurring disorders preferred.

Experience working with adolescents and teens may be required. 

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and the ability to work closely with referral sources required.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required; Electronic Health Records preferred.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

This position requires sitting and standing for long periods of time.
