Position Summary: 

As Buffet Ambassador at Keeneland Hospitality, you are responsible for enhancing the guest experience by providing exceptional hospitality, maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the buffet area, and ensuring guests are informed and assisted throughout their dining experience. This role serves as a key point of contact between guests and buffet operations, helping to guide, educate, and engage guests in a warm and professional manner. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Greet guests as they arrive at the buffet area and explain buffet layout, food offerings, and any special features (e.g., carving stations, live cooking, dietary options). 
  • Monitor guest flow and help manage lines. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of all buffet stations and surrounding areas. 
  • Liaise with culinary and service teams to ensure buffet items are consistently replenished, fresh, and properly labeled. 
  • Answer guest questions regarding ingredients, allergens, and special dietary accommodations. 
  • Promote proper food safety and hygiene practices among guests (e.g., encouraging use of utensils, hand sanitizers). 
  • Communicate any guest concerns or special requests to supervisors or appropriate team members. 
  • Support in clearing tables, resetting stations, or light bussing as needed to maintain flow and cleanliness. 
  • Assist with opening, mid-shift, or closing duties as assigned. Replenish plates, napkins, and serviceware. 
  • Cleans stations and replaces serviceware and underlines when needed. 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Prior experience in guest service, food service, or hospitality environment preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Friendly, outgoing demeanor with a guest-first attitude. Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. Must be able to stand, walk, and move continuously for long periods. High-traffic buffet setting with continuous guest interaction. Frequent standing, walking, and lifting . May be exposed to varying temperatures in buffet and kitchen areas. 

Licensing Requirements: 

  • A valid Fayette County Food Handler’s License is required for all food and beverage staff. Must be obtained prior to the first scheduled shift. ServSafe certification also accepted. 
  • A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers. This license will be provided to you on behalf of Keeneland upon hire.
