The Quality Diagnostic Technician is responsible for diagnosing and correcting offline transformer units within ERMCO’s Athens, GA facility. This role partners closely with Process Engineering and Operations to drive continuous improvement, ensure quality standards are upheld, and support our commitment to delivering reliable and high-performing distribution transformers to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain 5S in the areas associated with quality defect and offline units.
- Monitor product quality and provide feedback for process changes.
- Document findings and corrections in the offline log.
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement activities to enhance skills and contribute to organizational development.
- Diagnose and correct offline transformers.
- Use technical diagnostic tools (Core Loss, Impulse, Hi-Pot, Resistance, Turns Ratio, & Final Test) to identify and correct offline failures.
- Read schematics.
- Provide preventive actions such as training, process updates, etc., to eliminate the recurrence of the issue. Provide feedback, training, and coaching to operators on operator-caused offline units.
- Engage in on-site customer repairs and issue resolution, demonstrating a commitment to excellent customer service and problem-solving.
- An associate's degree or equivalent technical experience is required.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make process adjustments
- Working knowledge of quality control systems and their impact on production outcomes
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for fostering effective collaboration within the team.
