SUMMARY:

Work under general supervision to assist students and teachers in use of computers and educational software in campus computer lab.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Instructional Support

  1. Assist teachers and students in use of computers, printers, and instructional software.
  2. Work cooperatively with teachers to identify student placement in instructional software.
  3. Input data and maintain computerized and physical files on student progress and use of instructional programs.
  4. Maintain computer lab in a neat and orderly manner including bulletin boards and displays.

 

Technical Support

  1. Perform computer backups on a regular basis.
  2. Install of a variety of computer programs following complex written instructions.
  3. Detect and arrange for maintenance and repair of computer equipment.

 

Student Management

  1. Manage student behavior in the computer lab.
  2. Help supervise students during arrival and dismissal from school.

 

Other

  1. Maintain confidentiality.
  2. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  3. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
  4. Exercise professional judgment in absences; be punctual to work, meetings, and appointments.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  6. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

 

                               

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED

Completed two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education; or

Obtained an Associate’s Degree (or higher) or;

Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Some experience working with children

 

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, staff, parents, and administrators.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in a written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of basic computer operations and skills.  Ability to operate personal computer, educational software, printer, and copier.  Ability to work with students and teachers effectively.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the general public.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and sit.  Moderate stooping, and bending is required. Moderate lifting is required.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee regularly interacts with staff and the general public. 

 

The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Work is regularly performed indoors.
