In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

The Social Media/Office Assistant will support the Songwriting Dept in creating and managing Instagram content on a weekly basis. The position requires a lot of creativity and interaction with members of the Songwriting Dept, guests, and students. This employee will be responsible for interviewing faculty, students in the major, and visiting artists. Candidates must be organized, detail-oriented, and creative, with strong communication skills and a passion for storytelling through social media. The ideal candidate is a Songwriting Major who is already very involved with other students and events in the Song Major.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for creating content on the Songwriting Department Instagram including video content and poster images. Video  content will involve interviewing faculty, students, and visiting artists to the Songwriting Department.  -Will be expected to frequently post content on the department Instagram (weekly minimum) during Spring and Fall semester  (not expected to work during Summer semester). 
  • Must attend the Song Student Leadership weekly meetings on Wed from 4:00pm-5:00pm. 
  • Will be expected to be an active member of the team who will reach out on their own to teachers and students to create  content. 
  • Must be willing to attend Songwriting Department events which may occur in the evenings or weekend. -Will be scheduled for some office time for meetings about social media or desk work. 

Required Skills and Knowledge: 

  • Must have demonstrated the ability to handle Instagram content (reels, stories, and photos) and interactions at a high level  (please attach a link to your artist or personal Instagram somewhere in your application). 
  • Must be comfortable using video editing apps (such as iMovie or CapCut) to edit videos and content and must own a mobile  device with the app(s) installed (we cannot provide a device or apps). 
  • Must be comfortable interviewing others and filming them for content.  
  • Must be comfortable being on camera and having your voice narrate content and conduct interviews. -Will be required to come up with creative content ideas on your own and be able to schedule posts. -Must be able to understand what is and what isn’t appropriate content for a business Instagram. -Will be asked to make posters/flyers on occasion (Using Canva or something similar is acceptable)

Expected Hours Per Week: 15-20. 

Expected dates and times of shifts: May be scheduled 9am-5pm around your classes
