The Operations Manager reports to the Regional Operations Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring the site executes efficient and effective warehousing and transporting operations while complying with all applicable policies and procedures. This position will foster an environment where accountability is expected while facilitating development and innovation necessary to ensure the Company's competitive advantage is maintained. The Farmers Branch Distribution Center (DC) is a 92,720 sq ft warehouse operating on one shift with (13) employees.  The site operates (2) tractors, (1) Box Trucks, and (7) 53’ dry van trailers supporting final mile deliveries and transfers to other Premier DCs. 

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communications skills, is a critical thinker, and is someone who has a proven track record of creating operational excellence. The Operations Manager position is considered a part of our leadership team reporting directly to a Regional Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Achieve a profitable operation by managing the operation, staffing, and expenses of the facility as it pertains to Distribution Center (DC) activities
  • Manage all fulfillment functions and ensure all processes are followed
  • Oversee the inventory management program, ensuring accurate counts in the system and preservation of product is maintained
  • Promote a culture of safety first, ensure all safety procedures are understood and followed
    • Oversee, implement, and maintain compliance with company and OSHA guidelines to create and maintain a safe working environment for all associates
  • Ensure driver records are properly maintained, and the site meets all DOT regulations
  • Knowledge of volume flows and resource capabilities. Must understand the essential elements of a DC, E-Commerce, and Transportation operations
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles
  • Develop budgets and manage expenses without risking sales, customer service, or physical assets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Communicate the Company's vision and illustrate specific areas where the DC contributions are necessary to ensure success
    • Collaborate with corporate departments and DC peers to maintain awareness of customer needs
  • Goal-oriented and excel at providing coaching/mentoring to employees
    • Understand, educate, and train teams on productivity/budgetary goals
    • Ability to listen first, understand the need, and make meaningful recommendations or changes
    • Teach and train teams on continuous improvements, identifying opportunities for improvement and guiding change
    • Ability to work in a team environment with warehouse/shipping supervisors and employees
  • Manage all aspects of performance and development for both direct and indirect reports
  • High-level project management experience and strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sustainable organizational change
  • Maintain the ability to effectively create a business case, develop an ROI, present to senior leadership, and assess results upon completion
  • Negotiate and hold third-party providers accountable to performance standards
  • Support and model excellent service by exhibiting a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward the job and the company to both internal and external customers in all forms of communication
  • Ensure that all processes, procedures, policies regarding operations, service, safety, human resources, along with local, state, and federal laws are followed so as not to expose the company to any unnecessary risk or loss

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-5 years of management experience in high volume distribution or manufacturing operation
