Job Title: Head of Recommerce and Circular Business Models
Location: Denver, CO

About the Job:
The Head of Recommerce and Circular Business Models at VF Corporation is responsible for defining, driving, and executing the company’s global circular recommerce strategy, including VF’s enabling recommerce platforms for VF brands. This corporate leadership role sets VF’s overall recommerce strategy, in collaboration with VF brand presidents.  In close collaboration with brand leaders, cross-functional teams, and external partners, this leader drives operational excellence, measurable business success, efficient external functional leverage and sustainability impact of circular business models and recommerce activities. The Head of Recommerce and Circular Business Models is pivotal to grow and optimize cross-brand take-back and recommerce initiatives, pioneer new circular revenue streams, and establish the systems infrastructure and platform-base needed to allow Brands and VF to embed a recommerce model into their operations and strategies.

Recommerce and Circular Business Models is defined as strategy, activities, and partnerships to enable VF brands to lead in product take-back, evaluation, repair, resale, and recycling to extend product life cycle, reduce waste, engage consumers, and advance new revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Position VF as a recognized leader across the circular and recommerce apparel, footwear and accessory space.

    • Develop and own a global, cross-brand recommerce strategy that drives actionable focus to deliver profitable outcomes and brand affinity.

    • Champion circular business models, strategies, and initiatives at an enterprise level to enable economies of scale across all VF brands, driving brand success because of VF’s expert platform.

    • Leverage existing brand and corporate initiatives to enhance a multi-stakeholder process and systems approach to assess and engage external partnerships related to take-back, repair and recommerce initiatives, considering proficient knowledge of the external environment, industry actors, regulatory pressures, and new start-up organizations.

  • Team Alignment and Development

    • Through expert knowledge and proficient leadership skills, elevate dispersed team understanding of circular recommerce options while aligning activities for efficiencies.

    • Motivate and influence corporate and brand leadership to drive actions for the benefit of all VF, across multiple brands.  Prioritize efforts where the opportunity is greatest while leveraging learnings across all VF brands and regions.

  • Revenue Growth and Optimization:

    • Optimize corporate platform and brand circular and recommerce initiatives to elevate revenue and profitability through scale and cost management.

    • Identify, pilot, and implement new circular revenue streams that enhance brand equity and deliver accretive gross margins.

    • In partnership with brands and regions, establish a global P&L for recommerce and circular initiatives while optimizing and rationalizing activities and partnerships based on delivered accretive value.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Provide leadership to VF brand teams, corporate functions, and cross-functional groups to elevate and operationalize recommerce and circular business models that generate measurable brand value.

    • Lead consensus and coordinate strategic alignment across diverse stakeholders.

    • In partnership with the VF and brand sustainability teams, support activities that accurately measure the carbon impact reduction from take-back, repair and recommerce initiatives, further enabling VF to achieve its Science Based Targets.

  • Infrastructure and Systems Development:

    • Establish and manage an enduring systems architecture and infrastructure enabling VF to effectively capture current and future circular business model opportunities.

    • Develop scalable, technology-enabled platforms that allow for efficient processing and placement of existing non-resalable products from VF Brands into circular recovery systems. 

  • Regulatory Preparedness and Compliance:

    • Proficiently understand regulatory overlap with recommerce and circularity activities, enabling VF’s current and future circular business model initiatives to enhance VF’s compliance with applicable requirements.

    • Leverage recommerce and circular business models to reduce regulatory burden and costs for VF and brands.

    • Advocate for VF’s interests by engaging in relevant policy forums and industry coalitions to shape favorable regulations.

The Head of Recommerce and Circularity role will significantly enhance VF Corporation’s sustainability credentials, driving both reputational value and tangible, margin accretive revenue growth. Through strategic initiatives, innovative business models, and robust systems architecture, this position will help transform VF’s capacity to deliver circular economy solutions, directly contributing to brand strength, customer loyalty, and long-term profitability.

Qualifications & Experience:

·       Minimum of 15 years in leadership roles focused on recommerce, circular economy, sustainability or innovative business model implementation.

·       Demonstrated success in scaling circular business initiatives with measurable commercial impact.

·       Experience developing and managing complex systems, infrastructure, or platforms related to product circularity.

·       Knowledge of circular economy legislation, advocacy strategies, and regulatory frameworks globally.

·       Proficiency in apparel and footwear materials, production methods and supply chains. 

·       Proven ability to build and lead cross-functional teams in matrixed corporate environments, through motivation and influence.

·       Strategic thinker with a proven track record in driving transformative business change.

·       Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

·       Previous P&L management experience a major plus.

Key Metrics to Measure Success:

·       Revenue growth from circular initiatives, measured annually.

·       Number and performance of new circular business streams implemented across VF brands.

·       Degree of integration and adoption of circularity platforms and systems by VF brands.

·       Environmental impact abated by VF brands directly resulting from circular business activities.

·       Enhanced gross margins and measurable improvement in brand value directly attributable to circular business initiatives.

·       Successful advocacy outcomes reflected in favorable regulatory conditions for VF’s circular activities.

·       Progress against strategic recommerce business model leadership objectives and peer benchmarking assessments.

Hiring Range:

$194,400.00 USD - $243,000.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.

Long-Term Incentive Potential: This position is eligible to participate in a Long-Term Incentive Plan. Specific details of the plan will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
