About the role:

Industrial Services Company is seeking a strategic, data-driven Purchasing Director to own our end-to-end sourcing strategy, vendor partnerships, and cost optimization. You will lead the modernization of our procurement processes and systems through the sourcing of our materials and services through costing, quality, and risk -on time, every time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Strategic Sourcing and Supplier team, ensuring alignment with enterprise procurement strategy and business objectives.
  • Design and implement category strategies, cost models, and supplier market assessments to drive competitiveness.
  • Oversee supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and governance to maximize value and mitigate risk.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, driving performance improvement, cost optimization, and innovation.
  • Conduct supplier risk assessments and implement effective mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, SLAs, and quality performance standards.
  • Responsible for providing inventory leadership to support product transfers and avoid supply gaps and support new product launches.

What You Bring

  • Set Strategy: Build and execute multi-year procurement roadmaps aligned to growth, margin, and risk objectives.
  • Category Leadership: Lead category strategies relating to direct materials/indirect spend/MRO services/logistics with clear savings, quality, and sustainability targets.
  • Supplier Management: Select, negotiate, and manage strategic suppliers; implement SRM with QBRs, KPIs, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Negotiation & Contracts: Own RFx, bid evaluations, contract development, and renewals; partner with Legal on terms, SLAs, IP, and compliance.
  • Cost & Risk: Deliver cost improvements; diversify supply, monitor market indices, and build continuity plans (multi-sourcing, safety stock, dual tooling).
  • Process Excellence: Standardize P2P policies, approvals, and controls; champion automation and analytics (e.g., spend cubes, dashboards).
  • Cross-functional partnership: Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Sales, and ESG to meet service levels, product timelines, and sustainability goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related (MBA Preferred)
  • CPSM/CSCP/CPIM preferred.
  • 10 years plus of progressive procurement/sourcing experience in manufacturing or heavy services industries preferred
  • 4 years plus leading teams.
  • Proven results in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and SRM
  • Demonstrated ability to lead improvement programs across multiple sites and act as a change agent.
  • Strong financial acumen and comfort with data/analytics.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to influence across matrix organizations.
  • Familiarity with ERP/P2P tools (e.g., NetSuite/Dynamics/Coupa/Ariba) and Excel.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proven success in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Select, coach, and develop talent and build a strong succession organization. Implement education and training for all participants in capacity planning processes.
