About the Role:

The Lead Rover/Gatehouse Security Officer plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the premises by overseeing access control and conducting regular patrols throughout the property. This position requires vigilant monitoring of entry points to ensure only authorized personnel and visitors are granted access, thereby preventing unauthorized entry and potential security breaches. The Lead Rover is responsible for identifying and responding promptly to any suspicious activities or security incidents, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as necessary. Additionally, this role involves supervising and mentoring other security staff to uphold high standards of security protocols and customer service. Ultimately, the Lead Rover/Gatehouse Security Officer ensures a secure environment that protects people, property, and assets while fostering a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid security officer license as required by Florida state law.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement roles.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
  • Strong observational skills and physical ability to perform patrol duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory security role.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Familiarity with security technology such as CCTV systems and access control software.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations related to security and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control access at the gatehouse, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for employees, visitors, and vendors.
  • Conduct regular roving patrols of the property to detect and deter unauthorized activities or safety hazards.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies, coordinating with emergency responders as needed.
  • Maintain detailed logs and reports of daily activities, incidents, and security breaches for management review.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to security personnel, ensuring compliance with company policies and security procedures.

Skills:

The required skills such as vigilance, attention to detail, and physical fitness are essential for conducting effective patrols and monitoring access points to prevent security incidents. Strong communication skills enable the Lead Rover to interact professionally with visitors, employees, and emergency personnel, ensuring clear and calm exchanges during routine and critical situations. Supervisory and leadership skills are applied daily to mentor security staff, enforce protocols, and maintain team cohesion. Familiarity with security technology enhances the ability to monitor surveillance systems and manage access control efficiently. Additionally, problem-solving and quick decision-making skills are crucial for responding appropriately to emergencies and unexpected security challenges.
