This Opportunity
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Equipment Operator to join our team in support of key environmental initiatives on Buxton Beach, NC. In this hands-on role, you will operate specialized equipment to assist with critical fieldwork, including cleanup and remediation efforts. This is a temporary role with work expected to last for the duration of the project.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Travel to job sites and operate vacuum trucks, roll off trucks and other company equipment and vehicles
- Accurately preform pre-trip and post trip, and report deficiencies daily
- Label and manifest shipments in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies
- Interact with customers and provide superior customer service during all activities
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
- Maintain and protect keep all equipment in excellent condition
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
- Operate and troubleshoot routinely used tools and equipment
- Conduct hazardous waste operations and clean-up
- Develop summaries, generate photographic logs, and input field work documentation
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or 5 - 7 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Commercial Driver's License Class A or B required
- Tanker and HAZMAT endorsement
- Active 40-hour HAZWOPER Certificate helpful, but will be provided to the right candidate
- TWIC card helpful, but will be provided to the right candidate
- Basic computer skills, such as using Microsoft Office products, communicating through email, etc.
- Ability to travel as needed
- Occasional weekend work required
- Possess or have access to reliable means of transportation on a 24-hour basis
- Experience operating construction equipment, like an excavator, loader, and/or skid steer helpful Able to work at heights and confined spaces
- Frequent lifting, carrying, or exertion of objects up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Able to perform repetitive movements, including movements of digits, hands, wrists, and arms
Physical Requirements
- Ability to function in work environments that sometimes include high heat; high humidity; extreme cold; roadway traffic hazards; on water (boat operations) and confined spaces.
- Occasional work wearing a respirator; infrequent work requiring supplied air, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and fully encapsulated protective suits.
- Adequate vision and hearing to safely see teammates hand signals and hear warning communication in low light.
- Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers (including reaching, grasping, twisting, pushing, and pulling).
- Walking on uneven surfaces & climbing stairs/ladders.
- Semi-frequent crouching, bending, stooping and twisting, occasionally in tight spaces.
- Sitting in a vehicle for up to three hours straight.
- Working while standing during a 12-hour workday.
- Frequently lifting up to 10 lbs. over an 8-hour period and occasionally up to 50 lbs. over a four-hour period.
- Occasionally lifting 3-6” diameter hoses that weigh approximately 20 pounds over the head onto hose racks.
- Managing a 55-gallon drum containing approximately 400 pounds of material onto a drum dolly, then moving the drum using the dolly.
