Position Overview:
Hillwood’s Corporate Services team is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Corporate and Treasury Accountant to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for treasury operations and corporate accounting with additional involvement in financial analysis that supports strategic decision-making. The position offers the opportunity to work across multiple Hillwood businesses and collaborate with the Accounting, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Data Quality teams.
The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of cash management, banking operations, and GAAP accounting principles, combined with excellent analytical skills and the ability to deliver accurate, insightful reporting across multiple business units.
Responsibilities:
Treasury Operations:
- Monitor daily cash positions across multiple entities.
- Execute wire transfers and other banking transactions accurately and timely.
- Oversee preparation of bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and coordinate with accounting teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Support investment activities to maximize yield on liquid assets while ensuring compliance with company investment policies.
- Prepare and review recurring treasury reports and supporting schedules, including yield analysis, significant weekly transactions, and document changes in account balances.
- Maintain and update treasury policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Partner with external auditors to coordinate control testing.
Corporate Accounting:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements and related analysis for multiple entities.
- Review accounting for significant real estate transactions, research GAAP guidance, and provide commentary to management.
- Prepare and review recurring reports and supporting schedules, including account rollforwards for notes payable, notes receivable, and other supporting financial statements.
- Ensure data integrity in reporting through reconciliations and control checks.
- Streamline and improve financial reporting processes for timeliness and accessibility.
- Assist with lender reporting, financials statements, disclosures and covenant calculations.
Financial Analysis Support:
- Partner with FP&A team to forecast short-term and long-term liquidity needs.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and periodic budget-to-actual variance analysis for multiple entities.
- Prepare consolidated cash activity and cash forecast reports to support management decision-making.
- Develop creative, data-driven reporting solutions tailored to stakeholder needs and identify opportunities for improvement in existing reporting.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects for senior management and business leaders.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of cash management, banking operations, and GAAP accounting principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data and insights clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and reporting quality.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments, including with C-level executives and external financial institutions, while adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, and eagerness to learn new accounting and reporting systems required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA or CPA eligible required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in accounting, treasury, or corporate finance.
- Public accounting experience and/or banking experience preferred.
- Experience in real estate and partnership accounting a plus.
