Job Responsibilities

The Assistant Director (AD), Transfer Admission is responsible for group and one-on-one counseling and advising engagement, teaching and learning for parents and guardians, and positively contributing to all of the counseling and operations activities that go into improving RIT’s student profile and population. 

The AD, Transfer Admission is expected to maintain student and professional liaison relationships in their assigned RIT colleges. In addition, the AD of Transfer Admission is responsible for building and maintaining productive working relationships with RIT faculty and staff.

To be effective in admission decision making and scholarship review, ADs analyze multiple factors and data points in determining an applicant’s eligibility for admission.  Admission decisions must be timely, made within the bounds of federal and state laws and guidelines, while satisfying the ethical requirements and guidelines identified within the Statement of Principles of Good Practice as promulgated by the National Association of College Admission Counselors. 

In addition to all of the standard new student recruitment, counseling, and admissions activities, the AD of Transfer Admission will work collaboratively with the Assistant Registrar for Transfer Credit Management on the review and processing of transfer credit for incoming students.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of related experience, or equivalent

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong counseling, presentation, written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work with all populations.
Candidate must also be computer literate and possess analytical and problem-solving skills. 
Must be highly flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment that emphasizes measurable work outcomes.

PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy. (see Page 4)

The Assistant Director, Transfer Admission is responsible for student recruitment, admissions selection, and transfer credit evaluation that helps the institution achieve its new student enrollment goals.  New student enrollment goals include counts, academic quality, and distribution.

Please note: this position requires recruitment travel, which includes weekends and evenings.
