CLX Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to support daily procurement operations within our newly established Procurement Department. This is a tactical, fast-paced role responsible for executing purchase orders, managing supplier communications, and ensuring the timely delivery of components—particularly within an industrial electrical and electronics environment.
Operating in a high-volume, dynamic manufacturing setting, the Purchasing Specialist must exhibit exceptional organizational skills, accuracy under pressure, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. The role requires close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Shipping/Receiving to ensure a seamless and reliable material flow that supports production timelines.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a demanding environment and takes pride in process execution, vendor coordination, and operational follow-through. Our Purchasing Specialist is salaried exempt and will report to our Procurement Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement Execution
- Process a high volume of purchase orders based on BOMs, engineering requests, and replenishment needs.
- Verify accuracy of part numbers, quantities, pricing, and delivery requirements under tight deadlines.
- Track and update order statuses, ensuring proactive follow-up to support production schedules.
Supplier Communication & Support
- Serve as the primary contact for routine supplier coordination, including lead time confirmation, order updates, and quote requests.
- Escalate delivery or quality issues to the Procurement Manager for resolution.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier contacts, pricing, and terms.
Documentation & System Management
- Maintain thorough and accurate purchasing records, including order confirmations, invoices, and shipping documentation.
- Ensure item master and procurement data are accurate within ERP or procurement systems.
- Assist in generating reports for procurement metrics and KPIs.
Inventory & Production Alignment
- Monitor stock levels and anticipate shortages in collaboration with Manufacturing and Shipping/Receiving.
- Resolve missing, delayed, or incorrect deliveries quickly to minimize production disruptions.
- Execute urgent or spot buys in response to fast-moving production demands.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering to clarify part specifications, substitutions, or changes.
- Collect and organize relevant documentation (e.g., quotes, datasheets, lead times) to support Procurement Manager decisions.
- Contribute to ongoing procurement process improvements and best practices.
Requirements
Required
- 2–4 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing or high-volume production environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and stay organized under pressure.
- Familiarity with sourcing mechanical and/or electrical components.
- Comfort with technical documentation such as BOMs, part specs, and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and purchasing or ERP systems.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a high-volume environment with technical or component-level complexity.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and material planning processes.
- Strong sense of urgency and adaptability in a rapidly changing setting.
