 WHO WE ARE

Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has a collaborative partnership between Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and three Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families.  


 POSITION DETAILS

The Food Aide supports the preparation, cooking (when necessary), and delivery of meals and snacks to classrooms, and contributes to the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and related areas. This role also assists with inventory, documentation, and general support within the school center as needed. The Food Aide plays a key role in ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient food service operation and may occasionally be assigned to other sites to support staffing needs. 

Schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday); 12 Months. The shift is scheduled from 7:00am-3:30pm.

 EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of one year experience and knowledge of food handling requirements and practices.
  • Skill in operating various types of kitchen equipment such as stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and other equipment.
  • Ability to complete necessary records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move center/classroom equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to obtain SERV Safe Food Handlers certification.
  •  Ability to obtain Food Handlers certification within six months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards
