About the Department
Pitt Community College seeks a dedicated and experienced IT professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Network Services. This position oversees a team responsible for the management and maintenance of the college’s wired and wireless networks, telephony systems, and physical security systems. The Assistant Director ensures compliance with information security standards and collaborates with IT leadership to maintain a reliable, secure, and future-ready network infrastructure that supports the College’s mission of educating and empowering people for success.
Position Duties
What You’ll Do
- Oversee the management and maintenance of wired and wireless network infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain telephony systems and related infrastructure.
- Ensure the security of network infrastructure, including implementation of next-generation firewalls.
- Maintain compliance with information security standards (PCI, GLBA, CIS Controls IG 1, NIST, HIPAA).
- Supervise, mentor, and provide professional development for network services staff.
- Collaborate with IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve network issues while improving overall performance.
- Develop and implement network policies and procedures to enhance reliability and security.
- Contribute to the development of Business Continuity and Incident Response plans.
- Monitor network performance, respond to incidents, and proactively mitigate risks.
- Lead planning and implementation of network-related projects and upgrades.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and processes.

Other Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in network administration or a closely related field.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including wired/wireless networks, telephony systems, and network security.
- Familiarity with information security standards (PCI, GLBA, CIS Controls IG 1, NIST, HIPAA).
- Proven ability to manage and mentor technical staff.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
