JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Instrumentation and Control Co-op
Reports To: Department Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Understand basic function of AutoCAD and/or Revit both 2D and 3D, basic
drafting skills, and Microsoft Office Applications. Responsible for completing all tasks assigned corresponding with experience and skill level.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities listed are part of the role I&C plays in ensuring that systems operate
efficiently and meet the desired objectives, particularly in industries such as process,
manufacturing, or energy. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
· Perform assigned project tasks with guidance from Engineers, Lead and Senior
Designers including:
o Participate in collecting information from field inspections.
o Produce sketches from field inspections.
o Interpret field sketches generated by others.
o Convert design sketches/mark-ups to AutoCAD / Revit format.
o Participate in coordination of project details with Engineers, lead designers, and
other discipline leads.
o Read P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams).
o Read A&IDs (Airflow and Instrumentation Diagrams).
o BIM and/or ACC Application
o Panel/Wireway Sizing Calculations
o Instrument List
o IO List
o Instrument Piping Cutsheet Book
o Panel Layouts (Control/Power)
o IO Diagrams for various controls systems.
o Instrument Layouts & Details.
o Drawing & deliverables Package assembly.
o Understanding and following Salas O’Brien and multiple client CAD standards.
o Motivated to grow and influence growth within the design team.
o Be able to communicate effectively.
o Multitask - Work on several projects simultaneously.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
· In pursuit of an associate or bachelor’s degree within EMET, EET or related field.
· Microsoft Office Applications
· Must possess a valid driver's license
· Nice to have: AutoCAD, Plant3D and/or Revit
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working Hours/Environment
· Work typically performed in an indoor office setting.
TRAVEL:
Local client site visit, depending on experience and skill level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long period of time.
· Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
· Light Lifting up to 20 lbs.
· Ability to analyze unique situations and develop appropriate responses.
· While performing duties of this job, the employee may work under the following
conditions:
o Construction work site
o Exposed to mechanical moving equipment.
o High precarious places
o Fumes and airborne particles
o Outside weather conditions
o Risk of electrical shock
o Noisy environments
