USG / Registry Services / Student Support Operations

Full time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-term: 12 months

 

The Opportunity:

Registry Services are looking for a customer-focused and detail-oriented Fees and Student Support Officer with good numeracy skills. The post holder will assist the Fees and Student Support Managers in the processing of fee assessment enquiries and applications, ensure all tuition fees, research costs and other related fees are assessed, recorded and extracted accurately. They will also assist with the administration and processing of the US federal and private financial aid to ensure the University meets compliance requirements including origination of loans, validation of attendance, processing entrance and exit counselling and ensure the accurate transmission of student support information to the Student Loans Company (SLC) and the Student Award Agency Scotland (SAAS).


Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Educated to Higher Grade level (or equivalent) with relevant experience of working within an office environment, preferably with experience of working in student fees within a Higher Education institution.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to supervise staff, which will include organising, prioritising and the ability to influence and provide guidance and support to staff.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in an accurate and consistent fashion and to maintain high standards when working under pressure.
  • Good numeracy skills and basic knowledge of financial accounting principles
  • Good IT skills and ability to devise IT solutions for business processes.

Registry Services is located within Old College in the University central area campus, with excellent access to local bus routes and Edinburgh Waverley train station. We are currently engaged in hybrid working with teams having a balance of campus and remote working that meets the needs of the services. 

The current working arrangement for this role includes a minimum of 3 full days in the office during the initial training period, reducing to a minimum of 2 days in the office. This may be subject to change if service provision needs change to respond to student needs or other factors. Due to the nature of this role, please note this role cannot be entirely fulfilled by remote working with extended periods of full time in person attendance required across the academic year.
