The Echocardiograph Technician performs echocardiography examinations according to department procedure as required for age-specific populations. The technician will provide preliminary exam findings to the Cardiologists to aid in the interpretation of the study. Ensures that all exams are documented accurately.
Responsibilities:Performs cardiac ultrasound testing; selects and operates equipment as directed. Demonstrates competence in performing Echo, Doppler, Color flow, Stress Echo and electrocardiograms
Interacts with patients, answering inquiries and explaining examination details
Maintains patient information and examination records accurately and confidentially.
Performs maintenance on equipment before and after use to keep it operating as intended
Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment after each patient use.
Maintains all supplies required for testing.
Moves patients applying proper safety and body mechanics.
Collect, interpret and or analyze diagnostic data. Provides preliminary exam findings to the cardiologist to aid in the interpretation of the study.
Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular program.
Experience: 1-2 years experience in a similar clinical setting.
Licenses & Certifications: Valid ARDMS: RDCS Adult Echo. Pediatric Echo a plus. Current BLS.
Required Skills & Knowledge: Competence in performing Echo, Doppler, Color flow, and Stress Echo. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Ability to manage priorities and workflow. Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures and protocols. Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Strong documentation skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. Commitment to excellence and high standards.
