SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Feed Store Clerk is responsible for providing superior customer service by assisting customers in the store and helps keep the store shelves clean and stocked for convenient shopping and customer satisfaction. This position is also responsible for providing maximum service to members and patrons; working as a team; and following safety policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Assist customers at the service counter and throughout the store
- Stock shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise
- Help with inventory control and updates
- Help put new stock away
- Help set up advertising displays or arrange merchandise
- Assist with daily checkout
- Maintain a general knowledge of all products sold in the store and be able to demonstrate to customers
- Operate the point-of-sale terminal and other equipment with reasonable efficiency
- Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly store
- Be aware of shoplifting and report possible violations to the manager on duty
- Help customers with large and/or heavy items
- Exhibit sufficient computer skills
- Work cooperatively with other locations to accomplish company goals
- Provide excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations, responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints, and concerns immediately and meeting commitments
- Effectively communicate by verbal and written means with customers, employees, and management
- Take all possible safety precautions to avoid accidents or injuries
- Maintain and promote safety awareness; follow safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Understand and comply with all state and federal regulations
- Present a clean and professional appearance
- Employee is required to perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; or 1–3 months of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills required.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain professional in challenging situations.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training, seminars, or continuing education as needed.
